I'm fairly pleased with how this turned out. It's nothing special, just something simple I worked on to help me get my muse back.

I blended the background. It was pretty simple, just a mountain and the meadow. Then I added the horses. Originally I was going to have two adult horses, but I decided the quote really suited the relationship between a mare and her foal. I randomly decided to practice adding paint markings. I absolutely love the way they turned out! The only thing I'm disappointed with it that I had trouble making them look like the markings that were already there, particularly with the foal. The blaze and and socks are obviously brighter then the markings I added.

I'm pleased enough with the two manes. I like the foal's better than the mares, and I'm not in love with either of them, but I don't hate them either. The two tails are my least favourite thing about this manip. Again, I like the foal's better, and I also like the top of the mares. The rest just looks wrong to me. The manes and tails look better if you view this at its original size (click "download").

I tried painting eyes on the horses, but it didn't turn out very good. If I had any talent in the eye painting area then it would look better then just leaving the eyes black, but since I suck at it I find this looks better. I'll keep practicing. :D

And lastly I added the text and filters. I love the text, it's simple but elegant looking and suits this (in my opinion).

Comments and/or favs are loved. Feel free to critique this if you feel you have something constructive to help me out. I probably won't go back and rework this particular manip but I always take critique into consideration for my future work.

O______________________________O The text pwns so hardcore! *drools over it* As for making the markings lighter, you could always try using the dodge tool. xp It's beautiful. <3 I love all the colors in it. <3333 *coughshadowcough*

WOW! it's great! I love the text and the background blendng. The markings you added look very nice but they clash with the existing markings, To help with that I'd recommend desaturating the original markings or addin a brown layer and blending it in over it. Another thing I noticed was on the feet, they should be either farther in the grass or out, the lenght of grass isn't quite uniform. Not bad though the acctual blending is good. The foal's mane is lovely and the mare's is nice as well, the different lengths look nice ;]. The tail does look funny though. not horrible. The foals is a bit to flowing, foal's tails are short and choppy-like and a bit fuzzy. The mare's is too choppy, it should be more flowy. I'm losing my train of thought cause I'm watching a movie, but yeah very nice<3

Lmao, multitasking are we? :D I'm so glad you like it. Yeah, the markings are way different from the original ones (personally I like mine better lol). I tried desaturated the original ones but it didn't really work. That's a good idea about blending a brown layer though, I never thought of trying that. And that's a good point about the grass, too. It does look like they should be in it deeper. Ugh, I hate the tails. I never seem to be able to get them right. I see it in my brain the way it should be, and it comes out in a huge mess. Next time I do a foal I'll remember to make its tail kinda fuzzy though. Thanks again for the comment and critique. I'm glad you like it. :hug:

:stupidme: GAAAAAAAAR! I can't believe I forgot the shadow AGAIN! And I have that post it reminder right here in front of me. I guess I'm so used to reading it that I don't notice it anymore. :shakefist: Grr, I officially hate myself.

But aside from that, I'm glad you like it. Lol, I was drooling over the text, too. I spent so long trying to get it perfect. That's a good idea about the dodge tool, I'll try that sometime. :D Thanks for the comment and critique. :hug:
